Harris Voluntary Service is distributing free electric throws to residents over 80. The scheme was funded by local recovery funding, and aims to support households impacted by the cost of living crisis.
Electric throws are more cost-effective than heaters, as they cost very little to use and enable people to stay warm without heating the entire house. Research has showed that electric throws can save the average household up to £300 on energy bills. This is particularly relevant for people with limited mobility, specific vulnerabilities, and medical needs who will be more severely impacted by the cold weather.
