Are you passionate about your local community? Do you want to help support and develop local charities and associations in Harris? If so, we would love to invite you to join the Harris Voluntary Service (HVS) Board of Directors.
HVS’ mission is to serve the needs of the Harris community by co-ordinating and supporting local initiatives which aim to improve the quality of life of residents.
In existence since 1964, HVS is now one of the six partners which make up the Third Sector Interface Western Isles. We are funded by the Scottish Government to provide a single point of access for support and advice for the Third Sector locally. Over the years, we have supported the young, the elderly, the vulnerable, and carers via a variety of schemes such as hardship funds, summer playschemes for children, grass cutting for the less mobile, and more.
We also publish the Dè Tha Dol? the printed community newsletter, ensuring that news and events are regularly advertised.

We welcome interest from any member of the Harris community, though the following attributes are particularly desirable:
· A broad understanding of the local charitable landscape in Harris and the Western Isles
· Charity governance and financial management
· A general interest in the welfare of the island and the Third Sector
To register an interest, please get in touch at admin@harrisvs.org.uk or manager@harrisvs.org.uk.
